Why You Should Attend

Understanding and Mitigating Human Risk within Financial Services

To ensure we meet your expectations and maximise your return on training investment, we favour a classroom/workshop style set up for the delivery of our courses. Please note we therefore have a limited number of spaces available and these will be assigned on a first come, first accepted basis. We recommend early booking to avoid disappointment.

Course Introduction

In the Knowledge Economy, people are often seen as the biggest asset in most organisations. Yet those same people also pose the largest single risk to their organisations. These risks are particularly apparent within the financial services industry, where there have been numerous examples of human errors leading to financial and reputational damage. To succeed, companies will need to create environments that get the most out of their people, whilst simultaneously managing the potential downsides.

As technology takes over routine, repetitive tasks and complex computational processes, people will be spending more time doing the things the machines can’t. Things that involve nuance, judgement and emotional intelligence; precisely the things that make us human. But also the things that bring out the worst in us. In a rapidly changing environment, traditional methods of controlling people’s behaviour are liable to fail. This course will explore how, by deploying Behavioural Science, we can better manage this dynamic.

How will you benefit?

· Understand the significance of Human Risk: What it is and how it can be managed

· Learn basic Behavioural Science concepts and how to apply them in practice in the context of financial and operational Risk Management as well as more broadly.

· Use a Behavioural Lens to identify organisational inefficiencies and risks that derive from not considering behavioural dynamics.

· Increase your personal effectiveness by understanding what motivates your own decision-making.

· How Behavioural Science can offer cost-effective solutions to otherwise insoluble organisational problems
