Why You Should Attend

Strategically Re-Positioning the Value of BCBS 239

The deadline for BCBS 239 compliance has been and gone, yet most banks are still struggling to be compliant. Furthermore, they are battling to quantify the value to business of these efforts. This course revisits the regulators original rationale behind the introduction of the BCBS 239 principles so that the banking industry can re-calibrate what they should be focussing on in order for them to survive into the future, whilst at the same time achieving compliance. The future of traditional banking is under threat with new competitors entering the market and ever increasing regulations. Strategic focus is therefore critical. In essence the banks need to get the basics of data (Data 101) right. In so doing the banks focus can change from fixing data to leveraging and exploiting their data in order to identify new opportunities for business growth.

As part of this journey we will unpack the challenges that the banks have been facing, the lessons we have learnt along the way, and define the future trajectory that banks should consider to leverage the foundational building blocks of BCSB 239 to create business value. In so doing banks will keep themselves relevant in a world where the banking environment is being challenged not just by regulatory pressures, but also by new competitors both traditional and non-traditional, and in the process achieve compliance.
