Why You Should Attend

Best Practices in Model Validation and Model Risk Management

About the course:

Model risk management and validation have undergone a revolution in the last five years. From almost nothing to sometimes overwhelming detail, lenders are still searching for the Goldilocks solution.

This course discusses the published requirements, current practice, and trade-offs as we seek a balance that manages model risk without stifling model development. Each organization much choose itís own path, and examiners sometimes move the landmarks, but we will trade insights on best-practices, necessary details, optional good-to-have items, and how to sensibly raise the level of practice for any size organization.

About your expert trainer:

Dr. Joseph Breeden has been working in model development and validation for over 20 years and was working on the ground through major crises around the world. He and his team have done extensive validation work for major lenders covering dozens of models. He has witnessed and been part of the transition from pre- to post- recession changes in model risk management and has personal experience with what models succeeded or failed through many prior crises, and why.

Pre-course questionnaire:

A detailed questionnaire will be sent to all course participants to establish exactly where the group training needs lie. The completed forms will be analysed by the course leader/trainer and followed by telephone if further clarification is required. As a result we can guarantee that the course is pitched at exactly the right level and that the issues that you regard as relevant are addressed. The course material will reflect these issues and will enable you to digest the subject matter after the event in your own time.

Who should attend?

The course will be useful to those providing documentation to validators, those conducting validations, and those managing either development or validation teams.
